Client objective
To create a shared service for 2 councils to modernise and achieve economies of scale in revenues and benefits administration.
Capita’s approach
We are committed to developing new models of partnership that deliver widespread cost savings and substantial service improvements to local authorities. This contract is an excellent example of shared services in action. In the first 6 months of the contract we have already made good progress:
- Created joined-up revenues and benefits services, delivering direct cost savings to both Councils, anticipated to be in the region of £3m
- We are transferring work to processing centres in Kent and Somerset and telephone enquiries to Coventry, achieving savings by using new technology and Capita's business centre infrastructure
- Helped both councils to create true shared service operations in the client unit functions.
“More and more councils are recognising the real benefits of shared service partnerships. Together we are delivering real service improvements and cost savings to residents that could not have been achieved without Capita”
